Step-in to Step it up
We are telling the Government that they can't afford to be timid, and we mustn't be either.
In December, the Rudd Government will announce Australia's medium term emissions reductions targets, and they are widely expected to be weak and ineffective. When that happens, please join with people all around Australia as we STEP-IN to the offices of Federal Parliamentarians, to STEP-UP the campaign for real action against climate change.

Garnaut cringes from clear call to action
September 30 2008
Climate group Rising Tide has reacted angrily to the release of the final report by the Garnaut Review this morning, where the Government’s key climate advisor has failed to recommend a greenhouse pollution reduction goal that will save the Great Barrier Reef.
The report release comes the morning after Rising Tide met with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd at the Community Cabinet meeting in Newcastle last night.
Climate activists disrupt Senate
A dozen activists from Newcastle climate action group Rising Tide disrupted Question Time in the Senate on Monday, unfurling a banner and calling on Climate Change Minister Penny Wong to peak carbon emissions by 2010.
Shortly after 2pm, the group unfurled the large banner that they had smuggled into the public gallery, which showed pictures of reefs, forests and ecosystem and the word "UNLESS". A Rising Tide member jumped onto the barrier separating the chamber from the public gallery and began an impassioned plea to Penny Wong.

Make a submission on the Green Paper
The Australian Government is asking for public comment on its discussion paper (also known as a "Green Paper") on a Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme. It's important that lots of people write in demanding real action, because powerful industry groups like coal and aluminium will be pushing hard to continue business as usual.
We urge you to write a submission. To make it easier, we've drawn up this one-page guide. Submissions must also include this cover sheet.
Submissions are due September 10th. For more info on the process, and to read the discussion paper ("Green Paper") go to the government website.
